Dr. Henry L. Croft, Jr. has devoted his life and career to veterinary medicine, his community, and the countless pets and families who have entrusted him with their care. A native of southwestern Pennsylvania, Dr. Croft knew from an early age that becoming a veterinarian was his calling. After graduating from Norwin High School, he attended Penn State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree before continuing his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1978.

In 1980, just two years after graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Croft founded Loyalhanna Veterinary Clinic. For more than four decades, he has remained dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care while building meaningful, lasting relationships with the people and pets of the community. What began with one veterinarian’s vision has grown into a practice grounded in compassion, knowledge, trust, and a genuine commitment to Caring for Pets & Their People.

Dr. Croft’s love of animals extends well beyond the walls of the clinic. Throughout his life, he has cared for a wide variety of animals, from farm animals to beloved family pets. Today, he shares his home with his dogs, Cricket and Emmy, and his cat, Millie.

Family is at the heart of Dr. Croft’s life. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Tina; his daughter, Chynna, and son-in-law, Jon; his grandsons, Barrett and Austin; his stepson, Jeremy; and his mother, Jimmie. When he is away from the clinic, he can often be found outdoors—gardening, tinkering with one of his many projects, or, most importantly, making memories with his grandchildren.

A proud Pittsburgh sports fan, Dr. Croft “bleeds black and gold” and enjoys following the Steelers and Penguins, as well as cheering on Penn State football. He is also passionate about giving back to his community and sharing his veterinary knowledge with others. In recent years, he has presented educational programs on ticks to local Rotary and gardening clubs. With the help of the Loyalhanna Veterinary Clinic team, he has expanded those efforts through the clinic’s “Tick Talk” series on TikTok.

Throughout his career, Dr. Croft has remained committed to lifelong learning and continual improvement. He believes in learning something new every day and striving to be better than he was the day before. That philosophy has guided him throughout his career, helped shape Loyalhanna Veterinary Clinic, and continues to inspire the team around him.

More than 45 years after beginning his veterinary career—and more than four decades after opening Loyalhanna Veterinary Clinic—Dr. Croft remains committed to what has always mattered most: caring for animals, supporting the people who love them, serving his community, and making a difference one pet and one family at a time.
